Best Gives Back 2020

At Best Plumbing we believe in giving back to the community. As a family-owned and operated company we do our best to take care of one another. Each month we donate $1,000 towards causes that we believe in. Although our home office is local to Maryland, we have Sales Rep across the country, and we do our best to spread our donations far and wide as well. It was tough to narrow down our choices, but this year, we have chosen the following charities. Let us know where you would like us to Give Back next year!

JANUARY

This organization aims to shift the way society views and values our oldest generations by fulfilling seniors’ dreams and sharing their stories to inspire those of all ages.

WISH EXAMPLE: Voyage of Valor 2019

In partnership with GHC Housing Partners, Wish of a Lifetime sent 14 veterans from seven different states to Washington D.C. for the very first time to see the memorials that were erected in their honor. From the monuments, to the U.S. Capitol where the group met with congressmen, to the final dinner overlooking the city at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, this group of veterans had a well-deserved experience they will never forget!

FEBRUARY

School Lunch Fairy raises funds to setup emergency lunch funds at public schools across the nation. It is estimated that 25 million children in public schools do not qualify for their free lunch program. This program believes that no child should go hungry, so if a student does not have money that day their fund pays for their meal.

MARCH

K9s For Warriors provides PTSD service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to those in their program in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence. Their focus is on healing – helping the veteran and paired service dog build a bond to facilitate healing and recovery. Roughly 90% of their service dogs are rescues, so each time a dog is paired with a program member, two lives are saved.

APRIL

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. They create ad campaigns to increase awareness and understanding, fund autism research, and work directly with those affected by providing screening and intervention in early childhood as well as helping individuals with autism transition smoothly into adulthood.

MAY

The foster care system can be lonely, confusing and scary in even the best situations. Unfortunately, many children are impacted by abuse, neglect and trauma in the foster care system. Through their innovative wish-granting platform One Simple Wish sends some love to a child who needs it.

JUNE

This organization believes that every child should have access to classroom tools that will help them to be successful in school. When families cannot afford school supplies, teachers often end up providing supplies out of their own pockets. Adopt A Classroom connects sponsors and donors to teachers and schools locally, nationally, or by area of interest to provide classrooms with what they need.

JULY

The Gentle Barn rescues animals from severe abuse and neglect who are too old, sick, lame, or scared to be adopted into homes. They provide a sanctuary for these animals to be rehabilitated, and they invite schools, children from At Risk Youth programs, and children with special needs to visit with the animals.

AUGUST

Innisfree is a voluntary community for adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization provides a home and work environment in an atmosphere filled with beauty, warmth, and respect. All community members are valued, and all are encouraged to explore and contribute to a meaningful and challenging life.

SEPTEMBER

The Sunshine Kids Foundation improves the quality of life of children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they can have fun and celebrate life! All activities, transportation, lodging and food are provided free of charge to the children and attending medical staff. Activities range from Mardi Gras and Halloween celebrations to sports games and Broadway shows.

OCTOBER

The Pink Fund provides 90-day non-medical cost-of-living expenses to breast cancer patients in active treatment for breast cancer, so they can focus on healing, raising their families, and returning to the workplace.

NOVEMBER

Thousands of first responders are injured on the job every day. Responder Rescue does their part by providing both emotional and financial assistance to first responders who have been injured, become ill or suffered a traumatic event during their service. Donations go towards house and car insurance payments, tuition, medical supplies, and more for those in need.

DECEMBER

Operation Warm provides warmth, confidence and hope to children in need through the gift of brand-new winter coats. They believe that a new coat can spark confidence in a way that second-hand clothing cannot. They’ve even thoughtfully included a tag on each coat that reads “Made Just for You” where the child can write their name. Each donation goes towards the manufacturing of these coats for children of families in need.
